Michael Avon Oeming A.K.A. Mike Avon Oeming is a comic book artist who co-wrote the story with Ted Kosmatka, made the layout and drew the flashback scenes for Portal 2: Lab Rat, with Andrea Wicklund for the main story, as well as overseeing the whole project. For Valve as well, he made most of the Team Fortress 2 comics, and the Left 4 Dead comic The Sacrifice. Oeming is of Jewish background and is married to Taki Soma.[1]
On Valve's official website, his function was described as follows: "Before joining Valve in 2009, Mike was a comic book artist and writer for nearly 20 years, He is best known for his creator-owned series POWERS, Mice Templar, and Hammer of the Gods, and for his mythology writing on Thor and Ares for Marvel Comics. Since coming to Valve, Mike and several artist and writer colleagues have been developing Valve’s Intellectual Properties into free online comics. Check out his Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, and Portal 2 comics."[2]
